Psoriasis and its cure

Psoriasis is a autoimmune condition in which our body makes skin cells faster, that cells pile up and form dry patches or spots on the skin. Psoriasis in not contagious but itching make us to look awkward.There are different types of psoriasis-Vulgar psoriasis, Psoriatic erythroderma, Inverse psoriasis and pustular psoriasis.The major causes of Psoriasis are weather,sun burn,stress,infection,insect bites and medications.Rarely Vitamin D deficiency also leads to psoriasis.Other triggers includes certain foods like mushroom,alcohol. brinjal,chicken and some irrelevant combination of some recipes(Ayurveda).Symptoms includes itching,dry skin,Treatment includes steroid creams, steroid tablets and injections,immuno suppressants like methotrexate and cyclosporine, Antihistamines, vitamin A supplements, moisturizers, Medicated lotions and shampoos.

In Ayurveda ,studies suggest that digestive problems, bad gut health and poor intestinal hygiene also leads to psoriasis. Increased permeability in gut lining which makes harmful substances to enter into blood stream that triggers immune responses referred by a process called leaky gut. Leaky gut is one of the main reasons for Psoriasis. Foods like junk foods and processed foods,refined carbohydrates(pasta,pastries),red meat, gluten, egg yolk(Kalakki-soft scrambled egg with masala)foods high in added sugar, also responsible for psoriasis. Ayurveda recommends turmeric, neem and ginger to take daily as it believed to have cooling properties.Herbs like Amla, Triphala(for gut health )Chitraka and others. Also it recommeds to maintain balanced diet and good gut health to prevent psoriasis. Creams like kumkumadi lepna(saffron) can be used for dry skin. Some oils and soaps from Kuppaimeni(Acalypha indica),Aloevera gel can be used for external use. Ayyappala oil ,one of the most important oil used in Psoriatic patients by Ayurveda.
