“Doctors are being pressurized under endless shifts, toxic work culture and penalty of Rs 50 lakhs for leaving the course”.Many medical students suffer mental health strain due to work for more than 72 hrs, and no week off for some medical professionals .Mental health impact like anxiety,depression and burnout.
Also super speciality students are most affected from heavy work load that too south zone. Private institutions allowing students to pay penalty charge of more than 30 Lakhs for discontinuation of medical course. Some students are even under heavy mental strain due to getting fail marks in practical exams and they even suffer from suicidal thoughts.
So in order to avoid or prevent mental health strain for medical students standardizing duty hours, providing adequate rest and duty shifting mechanism should be brought.
