Dhat syndrome, a culture bound syndrome in which loss of semen through nocturnal emission and ejaculation which is considered as loss of vitalitiy i.e.,loss of dhatt. Majorly seen in India as it tightly bounded with Ayurvedic culture. Depressed mood ,Anxiety and fatigue are the final output of Dhat syndrome. Ayurvedic culture and some muslim culture also have the same concept which is fear of semen loss.
Rural population with less education and less socio economic status are affected by Dhatt syndrome. Patients acquire false information among friends,colleagues,relatives and road side advertisement.Main problem in Dhat syndrome is illegal Doctors from alternative medicine will be increasing and they utilise the mentality of patients towards prescribing some sub -standard or adulterated medicine. That medicine may bring some issue to the patients like liver problems and kidney problems.
Increasing awareness among traditional and allopathic providers may prevent or decrease unnecessary worry among teenagers or adult generations. Counselling also essential for teenagers who suffer from Dhat syndrome.
